When there is an allegation of child abuse/maltreatment the child is brought to the Iron County Children’s Justice Center (CJC) to be interviewed in a joint investigation with law enforcement and child protective services. The CJC provides the child the opportunity to tell their experience in their own words to a forensic interviewer in an age-appropriate, culturally sensitive manner. The CJC facilitates collaborative efforts between our multi-disciplinary team, including law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, mental health and medical professionals, victim advocates, and CJC staff. We work to provide families with resources, referrals to therapy, onsite free medical exams, and support their needs.
