I’m Nate Thayer, President of Irongate Custom Homes.
When you hire Irongate, you don’t just get a builder—you get a partner. You get me, backed by
a trusted team of professionals and more than 30 years of experience building homes the right
way.
I’ve spent a lifetime in residential construction, beginning at age 16. I spent 20 years as a
framing carpenter, learning from the very best in the business. Eventually, I evolved into a
custom home builder and founded Irongate Custom Homes in 2010. This isn’t something I
stepped into later in life. I built my career from the ground up—literally.
What began as learning how to frame a home turned into a lifelong pursuit of understanding
every aspect of how a home should be built. And I’m still learning. In my spare time, I study
mathematics because I’m fascinated by Euclidean geometry and the structural principles that
form the foundation of great construction. To me, there’s something deeply satisfying about
seeing mathematics, engineering, and precision come together in a well-built home. When those
principles come together, elegance emerges.
When you hire Irongate, you’re getting someone who understands how a home comes together at
every level—not just on paper, but in practice. I’ve personally designed, drafted, and built
several of the homes Irongate has entered into the Parade of Homes, and many of them have
gone on to receive industry recognition.
That depth of experience is becoming increasingly rare. My advice to anyone building a custom
home is simple: ask your builder where they started. Ask what trade they learned first. Ask who
will be running your project day to day, and what qualifies that person to oversee the
construction of your home.
Exceptional homes are not managed into existence—they are mastered.
